Fashion, Fashionable Mama, shopping and shoppping a little bit more! I don’t know, is that really who I am these days? I find it hard to find time for shopping and spending time in the boutiqes around Stockholm and I am also realising that I have lots and lots of clothes. I barely find the time to wear it all. That’s quite sad really.
Fashion has become such an emotionally charged word for many people and has become equal to the shopping, consumption and throwaway culture we live in today. It is also a definition that is largely consolidated by the current fashion bloggers and fashion journalism and I am not sure that is who I want to be anymore. Over the past year or so I have radically redused the amount of shopping that I do and now I am beginning to think that there should be a stop to it.
I recently bought the book Modemanifestet, The Fashion Manifest, by Sofia Hedström and Anna Schori. They amongst many other people have started to demand a new way of thinking about fashion and style. A mindset that is not about shopping but about renewing their style without having to obtain the latest IT bag or the trendiest shoes. Not having to be a fashion slave, and instead starting to think creatively about their own fashion style.
Should I give up shopping for a year and instead focus on renewing my style with what I have in my wardrobe?
I’ll get back to you!
