Spring is here and the weather today was glorious. On March 17, Irish around the world celebrated St. Patricks Day and the Irish in Sweden is no exception. The highlight of this feast came two days later when we all gathered in Stockholm’s Humlegården for the largest and most colorful St. Patrick’s Day parade ever in Sweden.
“We expect several hundred participants in the parade, both those who are originally from Ireland and quite a few of the many Irish friends who are among the Swedish people,” said Philip O’Connor, who is vice chairman of the Swedish-Irish Society, which organizes the parade eachyears with the Irish Embassy.
We turned up, hundreds of us, all wearing our favourite colour, GREEN! My mum and dad joined us for the day and we enjoyed the walk / parade from Humlegården to Kornhamsntorg in Gamla Stan.
